WhatsApp has confirmed to NDTV that it contacted several Indian users this week to inform them that they had been targeted by Israeli spyware earlier this year. Indian journalists and activists are believed to have been targets of surveillance for a two-week period until May this year. On Tuesday, WhatsApp's parent company Facebook sued Israeli cybersecurity company NSO alleging that it used WhatsApp servers to spread malware to 1,400 WhatsApp users -- journalists, diplomats, human rights activists and senior government officials across 20 countries. Those targeted were informed before the lawsuit.

As more than 20 European Union MPs visited Jammu and Kashmir - the first international group to do so since the government ended special status to the state - the organiser of the event is in the spotlight. Letters inviting the MPs went from Madi Sharma, who describes herself on Twitter as a Social Capitalist, International Business Broker and Education Entrepreneur. The foreign ministry has described the European lawmakers' visit, organised by WESTT or Women's Economic and Social Think Tank, as private. The visit is sponsored by the International Institute for Non-Aligned Studies, a think tank. Its office in Delhi was locked this morning.

First-Ever Day-Night Test In India To Be Played vs Bangladesh In Kolkata

Kolkata's Eden Garden will host India's first day-night Test when they take on Bangladesh in the second match of the two-Test series, starting November 22, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly told news agency PTI. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday gave their nod of approval to BCCI's proposal for the day-night Test. The BCB announced their decision after holding a meeting with senior players on the feasibility of playing a Test match under lights. Sourav Ganguly made it clear that day-night Tests was a big part of his agenda and had said that captain Virat Kohli is also on board with the idea. "The BCB has confirmed and we are having a pink-ball Test. It's a good development. Test cricket needs this push. जम्मू-कश्मीर में पांच गैर-कश्मीरी मजदूरों की आतंकियों ने की हत्या

कश्मीर के कुलगाम के कतारसू में आतंकियों ने मंगलवार रात 8:45 बजे कश्मीर से बाहर के पांच मजदूरों की हत्या कर दी. जम्मू कश्मीर पुलिस के मुताबिक आतंकी हमले में एक अन्य मजदूर जख्मी है जिसको अनंतनाग के जिला अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है.आतंकियों ने इस हमले को अंजाम तब दिया जब यूरोपीय सांसदों का एक 27 सदस्यीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल जम्मू-कश्मीर के दौरे पर है. पुलिस के मुताबिक कुलगाम में पांच गैर कश्मीरी मजदूरों के शव बरामद किए जाने के बाद इलाके में तलाशी अभियान छेड़ा गया है. सेना, सीआरपीएफ और पुलिस के अतिरिक्त जवानों को भी इलाके में भेजा गया है.

जम्मू कश्मीर के अनंतनाग में आतंकियों ने एक और ट्रक ड्राइवर की हत्या कर दी. पिछले दो हफ्तों में यह ऐसी चौथी घटना है. पुलिस ने बताया कि घटना उस समय हुई जब ड्राइवर अपने ट्रक में सेब भर रहा था. बता दें कि बीते 24 अक्टूबर को शोपियां में आतंकियों ने दो ट्रक ड्राइवरों की गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी थी. आतंकियों ने इसके साथ-साथ ट्रक को आग के हवाले भी कर दिया था. ट्रक ड्राइवर यहां सेब लेने आए थे. दक्षिण कश्मीर में बीते 10 दिनों में ट्रक चालकों को निशाना बनाए जाने की यह तीसरी घटना थी. मालूम हो कि जम्मू कश्मीर में सुरक्षाकर्मी तब से हाईअलर्ट पर हैं, जब से आर्टिकल 370 के तहत राज्य के विशेष दर्जे को बीते 5 अगस्त को राष्ट्रपति के आदेश के जरिए खत्म कर दिया गया था.

2-Year-Old Boy, Trapped In Tamil Nadu Borewell For 3 Days, Dies

A two-year-old boy, who fell into a borewell in Tamil Nadu's Tiruchirappalli three days ago, has died, government officials said early Tuesday morning. Sujith Wilson's body had decomposed inside the borewell. Authorities tried their best to rescue the boy, an official said, adding that the digging process was stopped soon after the body was located inside the borewell. Last night, government officials said that rescuing the boy would have taken 12 more hours. However, a foul smell from within the borewell led authorities to declare the boy's death. Officials later retrieved Sujith Wilson's body from inside the borewell and sent it for a postmortem examination.

The two-year-old boy, who is trapped in a borewell in Tamil Nadu's Trichy for over 60 hours, had fainted but was breathing, authorities said on Sunday night. Initially, the boy, Sujith, had been stuck at a depth of 26 feet but later slipped to 70 feet after rescuers tried to pull him up. The rescue team is drilling a one-meter-wide tunnel parallel to the borewell to reach the boy but the progress is slow due to the rocky terrain. Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam visited the site yesterday and met the boy's family.

2-Year-Old Tamil Nadu Boy Now Trapped In Borewell For Over 40 Hours

More than 40 hours after Sujith Wilson, a two-year-old boy, fell down an abandoned borewell in Tamil Nadu's Trichy district, rescue teams, including those from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), have been unable to reach him. Sujith had initially been trapped at a depth of around 26 feet but attempts to pull him up by knotting ropes around his hands led to him slipping to 70 feet. Authorities are now trying to dig a parallel tunnel - a metre wide - and then connect via a horizontal passage. The condition of the young boy is not known; oxygen and food are being supplied but there are concerns because he has stopped responding to calls.

CRPF काफिले पर आतंकियों ने किया ग्रेनेड अटैक

दीवाली की पूर्व संध्या पर जम्मू-कश्मीर (Jammu Kashmir) के श्रीनगर में आतंकवादियों ने ग्रेनेड हमला किया है. खबर है कि राजधानी श्रीनगर के करन नगर इलाके में शनिवार को केंद्रीय रिजर्व पुलिस बल (सीआरपीएफ) के एक दल पर आतंकवादियों के ग्रेनेड हमले में उसके 6 जवान घायल हो गये. पुलिस ने बताया कि सीआरपीएफ का यह दल सुरक्षा चौकी संभाल रहा था, उसी बीच आतंकवादियों ने उस पर ग्रेनेड फेंका. इस हमले में छह जवान घायल हो गये. पुलिस के अनुसार ग्रेनेड तेज आवाज के साथ फटा और इलाके में दहशत फैल गयी. अधिकारियों के अनुसार सुरक्षाबलों ने जवाब में हवा में गोलियां चलायीं. घायल जवानों को हॉस्पिटल में भर्ती कराया गया है और डॉक्टर उनकी हालत पर बारीक नजर रखे हुए हैं.

"We Support BJP," Say Haryana Independents After Meetings

After Haryana delivered a hung verdict in elections, action has shifted to Delhi as the BJP, which emerged as the largest party but fell short of a majority, tries to win over a group of independent MLAs. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, in Delhi to meet BJP chief JP Nadda, said he was optimistic about forming the government soon. Mr Nadda and BJP's Haryana in-charge Anil Jain met with Home Minister Amit Shah in a late night meeting that continued into the early hours of Friday. The BJP, which set itself a target of 75 seats in the 90-member Haryana Assembly, ended up with 40 seats and has been forced to negotiate with independents like controversial MLA Gopal Kanda, to reach the majority mark of 46. Gopal Kanda today said six MLAs, including himself, were ready to offer "unconditional support" to the BJP. The Congress, with 31 seats, has reached out to Dushyant Chautala's Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) for an alliance, but it will need more than JJP's 10 MLAs to score a majority.

17,000 Tamil Nadu Government Doctors On Indefinite Strike

Around 17,000 government doctors across Tamil Nadu are on an indefinite strike from today demanding pay parity with central government doctors. Patients would get only emergency care and life-saving treatment. Doctors will not attend to other optional procedure. This would affect around six lakh out-patients and 1.5 lakh in-patients in around 2,000 hospitals across the state. The AIADMK government which had sought six weeks' time, said it is considering the doctors' demands. It is not clear yet if the government will invoke the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA). The people's verdict on who will rule Maharashtra and Haryana for the next five years will be revealed today as the counting of assembly election votes begins at 8 am. Hindu Samaj Party leader Kamlesh Tiwari, murdered on Friday at his home in Lucknow, was stabbed 15 times and shot in the face, according to the postmortem report. Two deep stab wounds were found on his neck. A bullet was found on the back of Kamlesh Tiwari's skull but the entry wound was on the left side of his face. कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग के आरोप में गिरफ्तार कर्नाटक के पूर्व मंत्री डीके शिवकुमार से मुलाकात करने बुधवार को तिहाड़ जेल पहुंचीं. कांग्रेस सूत्रों के मुताबिक सोनिया सुबह करीब नौ बजे तिहाड़ पहुंचीं. एक सूत्र ने बताया कि सोनिया कर्नाटक के वरिष्ठ कांग्रेस नेता शिवकुमार की खैरियत जानने के साथ-साथ उनके प्रति एकजुटता प्रकट करने जेल पहुंचीं. गौरतलब है कि मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग के आरोप में गिरफ्तार शिवकुमार को प्रवर्तन निदेशालय ने कुछ हफ्ते पहले गिरफ्तार किया था और वह फिलहाल तिहाड़ जेल में बंद हैं. सोनिया ने आईएनएक्स मीडिया मामले में गिरफ्तार कांग्रेस के वरिष्ठ नेता और पूर्व वित्त मंत्री पी चिदंबरम से भी तिहाड़ पहुंचकर मुलाकात की थी.

अशफाक और मोइनुद्दीन दोनों आरोपी गिरफ्तार

कमलेश तिवारी हत्याकांड में बड़ी सफलता मिली है. गुजरात एटीएस ने हिंदू समाज पार्टी के नेता कमलेश तिवारी के फरार चल रहे दो कथित हत्यारे अशफाक और मोइनुद्दीन को गिरफ्तार किया है. दोनों की गिरफ्तारी गुजरात-राजस्थान सीमा से की गई है. बता दें कि कमलेश तिवारी की बीते शुक्रवार को लखनऊ में उनके घर में घुसकर हत्या कर दी गई थी. एक दिन पहले ही कमलेश तिवारी की हत्या में शामिल दो लोगों में से किसी एक की सूचना देने वाले को 2.50 लाख रुपये का नगद इनाम दिए जाने की घोषणा की गई थी. अगर यह सूचना दोनों के लिए होगी तो राशि 5 लाख रुपये हो जाएगी. यह ऐलान उत्तर प्रदेश पुलिस के डीजीपी की ओर से किया गया था.

सरकारी नौकरियों पर असम सरकार का अहम फैसला

असम की सर्बानंद सोनोवाल सरकार ने राज्य में बढ़ती जनसंख्या को रोकने के लिए दो बच्चा नीति का विधेयक पास कर दिया है. इसके तहत अब उन्हीं लोगों को सरकारी नौकरी मिलेगी जिनके दो से अधिक बच्चे नहीं होंगे. विधेयक में कहा गया कि जनवरी 2021 के बाद से जिन लोगों के यहां से अधिक बच्चे होंगे उन्हें सरकारी नौकरी नहीं दी जाएगी. बता दें, असम विधानसभा ने दो साल पहले जनसंख्या नीति को अपनाया था और अब सोनोवाल सरकार ने यह फ़ैसला लिया है. सितंबर 2017 में असम विधानसभा ने असम की 'जनसंख्या और महिला सशक्तीकरण नीति' पारित की थी ताकि छोटे परिवार को प्रोत्साहित किया जा सके.
