Whether Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh will lose his job over allegations of corruption in an explosive letter by former Mumbai police chief Param Bir Singh will be discussed when the state's ruling Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress coalition meets later today. The allegations have caused tension within the alliance, with NCP leader Sharad Pawar ruling out the resignation of the minister, who belongs to his party, while saying it is Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's prerogative to decide. A senior leader of the state's ruling alliance has told NDTV that the allegations against Mr Deshmukh are "serious" and the Chief Minister thinks he has to go. The coalition's crisis is linked to investigations into the discovery of an SUV carrying explosives on February 25 near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's home.
