Centre's Talks With Farmers Fail, Next Meet Tomorrow

The farmers' representatives have turned down the centre's second pitch for a committee to discuss the contentious farm laws, protests against which are intensifying by the day. "Now is not the time for a committee," sources quoted farmers' representatives as saying at the meeting with three central ministers on Tuesday evening. A second meeting will be held on December 3. More farmers from Punjab and khaps from Haryana are making their way to the national capital, demanding that the laws be repealed. The farmers have said they will continue the protest if their demands are not accepted.

Khalsa Aid Foundation's Massive Arrangements For Farmers

At Delhi-Haryana in outer North Delhi's Singhu, the farmers' blockade continues for the sixth day. The Khalsa Aid foundation has made massive arrangements for thousands of protesting farmers. Tea, snacks, kheer (sweet pudding), hundreds of mineral water bottles and even detergent soaps are being distributed to the farmers. Amarpreet Singh, director of Khalsa Aid Foundation, India, told NDTV that apart from food arrangements for all farmers, for the women, over 20 mobile toilets have been set up.

Farmers Say Will Attend Talks Today, Claim No Conditions From Centre

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will lead talks today with the protesting farmers, sources say, adding he met Home Minister Amit Shah, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, BJP chief JP Nadda this morning. This is the second meeting between top BJP leaders in less than 48 hours amid massive protests against contentious farm laws. The government will try to assure the farmers about the new agricultural laws, according to sources, and dispel rumours over the minimum support price. The laws will not be repealed, the protesters are likely to be told.

"Only One National Flag In India": Governor On Naga Group's 'Flag' Demand

RN Ravi, the Nagaland Governor and the centre's interlocutor for the Naga talks, on Monday, categorically said the central government is "absolutely clear" that there shall be only one national flag and one constitution in the country. The strongly-worded statement comes at a time when the armed Naga group NSCN (IM) is sticking to its demand of a separate Naga flag and constitution as part of a peace deal.
