Chandrababu Naidu Meets Rahul Gandhi, Says Unity "Democratic Compulsion"

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who is partnering the Congress for the coming assembly elections in Telangana, met Rahul Gandhi this afternoon to take forward the talks on a broader opposition alliance for the next year's general elections. Calling it a "democratic compulsion", Mr Naidu said they have agreed in principle to unite. Confirming that they were "coming together", Mr Gandhi said, "The gist of the meeting was that we have to defend democracy and the institutions of the country".

For Assam Citizens' List, Deadline Extended, 5 More Documents Allowed

The Supreme Court today extended the deadline for filing claims and objections of people not included in the final draft of the new citizen's list in Assam to December 15. A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi also permitted candidates to produce five more documents previously disallowed by the National Register of Citizens (NRC) coordinator, rejecting his contention that they can be easily forged. These documents are the NRC of 1951, the voter lists of 1966 and 1971, the refugee registration certificate till 1971, and ration cards issued till 1971.

तेलुगूदेशम पार्टी के अध्यक्ष व आंध्र प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री एन. चंद्रबाबू नायडू ने गुरुवार को नई दिल्ली में कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी से मुलाकात की. इस दौरान चंद्रबाबू नायडू ने तेलंगाना में होने वाले विधानसभा चुनाव और अगले साल होने वाले आम चुनाव को लेकर कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष से बात की. मुलाकात के बाद चंद्रबाबू नायडू और राहुल गांधी ने एक प्रेस कांफ्रेंस भी की. प्रेस कांफ्रेंस के दौरान टीडीपी प्रमुख चंद्रबाबू नायडू ने कहा कि मेरा मिशन देश और लोकतंत्र को बचाना है. हम सभी पार्टियों को एक प्लेटफॉर्म पर लाने की तैयारी में है, ताकि हम एक साथ बीजेपी से लोकतंत्र को बचा सकें. हमें एक साथ काम करने की जरूरत है. उन्होंने कहा कि हमनें सभी पार्टियों को एक साथ आने का न्यौता दिया है. चंद्रबाबू ने कहा कि हमें राष्ट्र के बारे में पहले सोचने की जरूरत है, अगर हम देश को बचा पाते हैं तभी सब कुछ बच पाएगा.

दिल्ली में 40 लाख गाड़ियां हुई डी-रजिस्टर

दिल्ली में बढ़ते प्रदूषण के स्तर को कम करने के लिए सरकार ने एक बड़ा फैसला लिया है. दिल्ली सरकार ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट को बताया कि उसने दिल्ली की सड़कों से 10 साल पुरानी डीजल और 15 साल पुरानी पेट्रोल की गाड़ियों को हटाने की प्रक्रिया को शुरू कर दिया है. दिल्ली सरकार के इस कदम के बाद दिल्ली की सड़कों से कुल 40 लाख ऐसी गाड़ियों पर कार्रवाई की जाएगी. ध्यान हो कि दिल्ली-एनसीआर में बढ़ते प्रदूषण के स्तर को देखते हुए सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने दिल्ली सरकार समते तमाम एजेंसियों को तुरंत कार्रवाई करने को कहा था.

"We have decided to put the past behind. The idea is to defeat the BJP," Rahul Gandhi said, addressing reporters jointly with Mr Naidu outside his Tughlaq Lane home. "We have a past. Both of us agreed that we are not going to talk about our past and talk about our future," the Congress president said, to questions on their bitter rivalry.
